Stephanie Vegh was born and bred in the smoggy industrial city ofHamilton, a key centre for steel production in her native Canada whoseoccultist tastes and clockwork pragmatism have left their mark inStephanie's diverse visual and written practice. She completed her BAin Art and Comparative Literature at Hamilton's McMaster University, aschool renowned for medical research where her artistic practice wasdeveloped in collaboration with McMaster's anatomical laboratories.In 2003 she relocated to Glasgow to study on the Master of Fine Artcourse at the Glasgow School of Art and following graduation in 2005has remained in the UK as Artist-in-Residence for Repton School inDerbyshire. When not playing the role of an anachronisticschoolmistress, in real life Stephanie draws out images of werewolvesand saints in her studio while also operating as a bibliophile,researcher and writer in hopes of forging the common ground beneaththe feet of her hybrid creations.
